Delete a domain

Deleting within the money-back period, what stops working, and the extensions you cannot delete.

You can have a domain deleted in the first days after it is registered — the money-back grace period, a few days long depending on the extension. Deleted in that window, it may be refunded, less a deletion charge, and it becomes available to register again straight away.

Important

Deleting a domain stops everything that uses it immediately: the website, the email addresses and any service set up on it. Move what you need first.

Ask for the deletion

Deletions are done by our team, so nothing is removed by a mistaken click.

  1. Open a ticket and choose the domain as the Related service.
  2. Say that you want the domain deleted.
  3. We confirm whether it is still within its money-back period, and what refund applies, before we delete anything.

Past the money-back period

A domain that is past its money-back period can still be deleted, without a refund. Deleting it early rarely saves anything: if you simply don't renew it, it lapses on its expiry date. See What happens when a domain expires.

Note

Some extensions — .CA among them — have no money-back period. A .AU domain can only be deleted at the request of its registrant.
