Domains are not imported as products. They are sold from a search box, because the name and the price are only known once somebody has typed one.
The search box
Put this shortcode on any page or in any widget:
[digipacket_domain_search]Somebody types a name. Your site asks us whether it is free, and the answer comes back with your price — your cost for that extension, times the number of years, plus your domain margin. They pick a term and add it to the cart.
Both texts can be changed:
[digipacket_domain_search placeholder="Find your name" button="Check"]The price grid
For a table of extensions with your yearly price on each:
[digipacket_domain_prices tlds="com,net,org,fr" limit="12"]| Attribute | Does |
|---|---|
tlds | The extensions to show, comma separated, in that order. Leave it out and the popular ones lead. |
limit | How many rows at most. 0 shows everything. |
The figures come from the last catalogue import, so run an import after changing your domain margin.
What your customer sees
| Answer | What it says |
|---|---|
| Available | The name, your price per term, and an add-to-cart button. |
| Already registered | That it is taken. Nothing to buy. |
| A premium name | That it is premium and to contact you for a quote — premium names are not sold through the box. |
| Extension not offered | That extension is not in your catalogue. |
| Could not be checked | The registry did not answer in time. Trying again usually works. |
Note
Adding a name to the cart asks us again — is it still free, and what does it cost? A page left open for an hour cannot sell a name that has gone in the meantime, and cannot sell it at yesterday's price.
Registration terms
How many years an extension sells in one go is the registry's rule, not ours, and it differs between extensions. The selector offers what the extension actually allows, read at the last import.
Hosting and a domain in one order
Nothing special to do. A customer can put a registration and a hosting plan in the same cart: the hosting product asks which domain it is for, and they can type the name they are registering in the same order. Both lines reach your Agency space as one order.
