Change the PHP version (Plesk, Windows hosting)

Choose which PHP version your site runs on in Plesk.

  1. Open your control panel — on Windows hosting, this is Plesk.
  2. On the Plesk dashboard, click PHP Settings.
  3. Choose the version from the list and click OK at the bottom of the page.

The change applies straight away. Test the site after switching: code written for an old PHP version can stop working on a newer one, and the reverse.

Tip

Choose the newest version your application supports. Newer PHP versions are faster and still receive security fixes.

Note

On Linux (cPanel) hosting, the PHP version is set in cPanel under Software — look for MultiPHP Manager or Select PHP Version, depending on the server.
