Any mail program can read a mailbox hosted with us. You need four things, and your webmail's settings page lists all of them: the incoming server, the outgoing server, the ports, and your full email address as the username.
Find them under Mailboxes and webmail on the email service page — see Open webmail and see your mailboxes.
IMAP, not POP
| IMAP | POP | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the mail lives | On the server | Downloaded to one device |
| Several devices | Everything stays in step | Each device sees a different picture |
| If the device is lost | Mail is still on the server | Mail may be gone |
Choose IMAP unless you have a specific reason not to.
Add the account
- In your mail program, add an account and choose IMAP (or "Other account" → IMAP).
- Enter your full email address as both the address and the username.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server names from your webmail settings.
- Choose SSL/TLS encryption on both, with the ports your provider lists.
- Make sure the outgoing server is set to require authentication with the same username and password.
When it won't connect
| Problem | Usual cause |
|---|---|
| Password rejected | The username must be the full address, not just the part before the @ |
| Receives but won't send | Outgoing authentication is off, or your network blocks the port — try the alternative port your provider lists |
| Nothing connects at all | The mailbox exists but DNS isn't set — see Set up your business email |
Tip
On a phone, add the account as IMAP manually rather than letting the phone guess. Automatic set-up often picks POP.
